If you're a GAA player, answer these 2 questions

I asked two questions to a Gaelic footballer yesterday.
How would you rate your performance this season?
How would you rate your mental performance this season?
The purpose of asking both is that I believe there is a correlation between the results of the two. But we often just group mental performance along with overall performance. I think we need to see mental performance as a part of overall performance, but also a part from it.
Confidence will dictate how effective we can be in executing our technical skills
Managing our mental fatigue will impact our physicality
Directing our attention to the right cues will allow us to implement tactics effectively
But, when we group mental performance in with overall performance, we tend to overlook it.
We don’t give it the attention it deserves. Don’t get me wrong, there will be areas to look at within our overall performance, but we have to consider the mental element. I often find talking to athletes that when they score lowly on mental performance, they score lowly on overall performance. Even if they are physically fit, technically sound and tactically astute. And those factors always take precedent while the mental side falls by the wayside.
If our mental game isn’t there, we will struggle to bring all the other pieces to the fore consistently.
We need to assess our mental game separately
The flipside is, if you rate your mental performance highly and your overall performance was lower than you would like, that is a big indicator that working on the physical, technical or tactical elements will be helpful.
So I go back to the two questions:
How would you rate your performance this season?
How would you rate your mental performance this season?
If you are an athlete reading them, answer them and see what it tells you about your performance.
